Siemon brings its knowledge and expertise to Cisco Connect Kenya 2017
March 2017 - Siemon, a leading global network infrastructure specialist, is celebrating its participation at Cisco Connect Kenya 2017, which took place in Nairobi in early February. During this two-day event, visitors were able to find out how Siemon, a Cisco Solutions Provider, is helping organisations handle the vast quantities of data being accumulated by the Internet of Things (IoT) and leverage a secure, agile infrastructure to ensure maximum profitability.
Cisco Connect is a series of proprietary, in-country live and virtual events held throughout the emerging markets. Siemon was a Gold Sponsor of Cisco Connect Kenya 2017 and this event was the latest in a number of collaborations between the two organisations. Siemon was previously named one of the 20 Most Promising Cisco Solutions Providers, joining a number of world-class vendors that provide services in partnership with Cisco and demonstrate extensive business process knowledge, as well as in-depth integrated and innovative strategies. Siemon is also proud to be a partner within Cisco's Digital Building Solution where its ConvergeIT cabling solutions for intelligent buildings are unequivocally aligned with Cisco's initiative to support the convergence of low-voltage building systems onto a single IP network for significant savings and a better user experience.
'We are immensely proud of our close relationship with Cisco and all of our products are 100 per cent compatible with its equipment,' said Carl Siemon, Siemon's president and CEO. Companies chosen as Cisco Solutions Providers are those that stand out at the forefront of tackling the challenges of the networking market, and events such as Cisco Connect Kenya 2017 offer an excellent opportunity for us to talk directly to end users who are at the forefront of network infrastructure design and configuration across the country.'
Located on Cisco's stand, two Siemon VersaPOD® cabinets were fully populated with a range of Cisco's network switches and associated technology. VersaPOD addresses critical issues such as the need for increased equipment density, ease of installation, accessibility and thermal efficiency. Visitors were able to see how VersaPOD facilitates shared zero-U space between bayed cabinets that can be used for patching, power distribution and cable management. It also allows cabling to be moved into vertical patching fields to free up valuable horizontal mounting space inside the cabinet and enable higher active equipment density.
Also within the VersaPODs was a range of Siemon's innovative optical fibre and copper cable and connectivity solutions. The LightStack® ultra high-density plug and play fibre system has the capacity to house up to 144 LC or 864 MTP fibres within 1U and 576 LC or 3456 MTP fibres within 4U and supports 10, 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet applications. Siemon's Z-MAX copper cabling system was also on display, which is available in both shielded and unshielded twisted pair variants, and is the highest performing, fastest terminating Category 6A/Class EA cabling solution on the market.
Commenting on the success of Cisco Connect Kenya 2017, Iyer Sivakumar, Siemon's sales manager for Africa, concluded, 'Africa continues to be a area of key growth for us and our technology is critical to building strong network infrastructures for businesses across the continent. By working closely with Cisco, we are able to provide design services and tailored solutions that optimise the infrastructure to best support long-term networking requirements. Cisco Connect Kenya 2017 was a great opportunity and I'm delighted that there was so much interest in our innovations.'
